The ICC Cricket Academy has turned the indoor facility into smart lanes with the installation of PitchVision sensors under the floor.
The prestigious facility set in the heart of Dubai’s Sports City now has dedicated lanes that deliver instant key delivery criteria such as flight, pace, line, length and even batsman’s footwork.
This feedback is augmented by providing integrated HD video playback with each ball. Cameras capture the footage from two angles before being instantly fed to plasma screens at both batting and bowling ends.
The Global Academy is used by elite players from full international to first-class and age-group levels. PitchVision will help in pre-game planning such as identifying lengths and lines to certain batsman to gain a healthy advantage prior to a Test, ODI or T20. It also has a role in player rehabilitation to gauge improvement in performance when returning from injury. The installation continues the recent trend of PitchVision being the technology of choice for elite venues and quickly installed during building or refurbishment works.
Sam Charnley – Head Analyst – said, “Having this technology built into the floor provides us with a huge potential both commercially and academically. All players want to see themselves and their achievements day in day out. PitchVision is going to help us take this to the next level.”
