Another finals weekend has come and gone and this was certainly one for the archives! St Andrew’s School faced off against Hilton College at the University of Pretoria for what ended up being a closer final than anticipated. PitchVision captured the tournament in real time with the new PV/MATCH system which allows 3 cameras to tag each delivery. All the videos captured live providing  instant feedback via the interactive scorecard on Pitchvision.com

Coca-Cola has shown a strong commitment towards the development of South African cricket in the last few years with this tournament.

Schools represented the six Cricket South Africa franchise teams this year and St Andrews represented the VKB Knights while Hilton College represented the Hollywoodbets Dolphins in the final.

Hilton College won the toss and elected to bat. Some tight bowling by St Andrew’s Henre Koekemoer and Ruan Cronje meant that Hilton College had a tough task setting a competitive total in the final. However the team managed a modest target of 123 for St Andrews School to chase.

Things continued to look good for Hilton College as John Turner bowled a double wicket maiden during his allocated 4 overs. But the quick 3 wicket loss wasn’t enough to seal the deal as a remarkable partnership of 105 by Ruan Cronje and Granett Tarr led St Andrews to a winning score of 126/4, winning by 6 wickets.

This has been the first year that St Andrew’s School has taken part in the Coca-Cola Schools T20 National Challenge so to be crowned the 2018 champions was an incredible achievement for them.

How PitchVision helped the winning team

St. Andrews School have been using the PV/CLUB system during training which is installed permanently at the schools indoor facility. Here’s what their coach, Greg Hobson, has to say about the system:

“The PitchVision system which we have in our High Performance indoor cricket centre has certainly helped our T20 preparations. I would say the main benefit has been in terms of our batters understanding their techniques when improvising.”

The PV/CLUB system incorporates motion tracking sensors which can be placed under any surface, to provide a smart lane, state of the art cricket experience.

Delivering three HD camera feeds upto 90 FPS, a pace radar and auto crease identification every delivery. Along with all our other PVC software reports, such as line, length, bounce and deviation.

Hobson was also highly impressed by the PV/MATCH system that captured the final.

PV/MATCH combines scoring with ball by ball video footage in real time, allowing people to watch the match remotely or check in later to review a specific ball. You can view live highlights of the match such as wickets, fours and sixes from anywhere around the world, thanks to the use of high definition cameras that are strategically placed on the field. These cameras capture the best angle possible and all the data gets stored on pitchvision.com where players as well as their family and friends can access it. And yes, you can share that wicket straight to your Facebook or Twitter profile!

PV/MATCH is an asset to any team and compliments PitchVision coaching products to provide teams with a truly 360 degree approach to playing and training. Find out more and purchase your system HERE.
